Cover illustration in response to an article on educating midwives in BSL sign language in order to offer a comprehensive service to new mothers. I was asked to depict the initials BSL in sign language without making direct refernces to either the NHS or Midwives, I decided to place emphasis on sign language as a composite of sweeping physical actions, an observation that allowed me to deligate denotative referential content to drawing and the impression of movement to colour paper assemblage.
